چکیده

The pattern of inheritance of tyrosine hydroxylase (EC 1.14.3a), dopamine-/3-hydroxylase (1.14.2. l), and phenylethanolamine N-methyltransferase (EC 2.1. l), three enzymes in the catecholamine biosynthetic pathway, has been studied in two sublines of the Balb/c inbred mouse strain, Balb/cJ and Balb/cN. All three enzymes are nearly Z-fold greater in adrenals of the Balb/cJ line. Examination of the F1, Fz, and backcross progeny of the mating between these sublines reveals that single-gene loci control the steady state levels of each enzyme. The activity of all three enzymes is highly correlated in all of the hybrid generations studied. One explanation for these findings is that the loci are linked structural genes. An alternative hypothesis is. that a single regulatory gene locus controls the phenotypic expression of the three enzymes.

Activation of Lignin Biosynthetic Enzymes During Internodal Development of Aeluropus littoralis Exposed to NaCl

Lignin is one of the major characteristics of plant secondary cell wall that provides structural rigidity for the cells and tissues and hydrophobicity to tracheary elements. Internode tissues of Aeluropus littoralis as a halophyte grass were sampled at different developmental stages (from the first to the fifth internodes ) and under different NaCl concentrations. The influences of NaCl and int...

Gene Regulation of Catecholamine Biosynthetic Enzymes by Nitric Oxide in PC12 Cells

Nitric oxide (NO) regulates a wide range of physiological processes. Recent studies show that NO can regulate the release of catecholamines (CA) from the adrenal medulla. In the current study, the PC12 cell line was used to examine the effect of NO on the regulation of the CA biosynthetic enzymes: tyrosine hydroxylase (TH), dopamine-β-hydroxylase (DBH) and phenylethanolamine Nmethyltransferase ...

Genetic regulation of catecholamine synthesis, storage and secretion in the spontaneously hypertensive rat.

Understanding catecholamine metabolism is crucial for elucidating the pathogenesis of hereditary hypertension. Here we integrated transcriptional and biochemical profiling with physiologic quantitative trait locus (eQTL and pQTL) mapping in adrenal glands of the HXB/BXH recombinant inbred (RI) strains, derived from the spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR) and normotensive Brown Norway (BN.Lx). ...

Effect of exercise on mRNA expression of select adrenal medullary catecholamine biosynthetic enzymes.

The effect of submaximal endurance training (SET) on sympathoadrenal activity is not clear. We tested the hypothesis that SET (90 min/day, 5 days/wk, for 12 wk) elevates mRNA expression of catecholamine (CA) biosynthetic enzymes, tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and dopamine-beta-hydroxylase (DbetaH) in the adrenal medullae of adult, female Sprague-Dawley rats. SET increased TH protein level by 35%, T...

The catecholamine biosynthesis route in potato is affected by stress.

The catecholamine compounds in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) leaves and tubers have been identified by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS) measurements. The finding that the catecholamine level is dramatically increased upon tyrosine decarboxylase (TD) overexpression potentiates the investigation on their physiological significance in plants. It was then evidenced that catec...
